Name: SHAK Junior School
Private, state-approved primary school with nursery (EMIS number 210756)
The primary school in Uganda consists of grades 1 – 7.
The nuersery is divided into three sections, – the Baby Group – Middle Group – Oldest Group.
Religious education: Catholic religion / Islam
Bulabakulu is an extraordinarily rural and widely ramified
community. It is located two hours’ drive north of the national capital of
Kampala in the Luwero district (Zirobwe sub-district).
The school was founded by Saad Luyinda. Together with the board members Salima (trained teacher) and Hassan (trained secondary teacher), he is responsible for and manages the school.
The school is financed exclusively through school fees paid by the parents. There is no state support, no support from the municipality and no donations from the religious communities. If there are unforeseen gaps in the financing, the owner and director has to help out with his private assets. He himself does not receive a salary from the school. He lives off the income his wife earns from a stationery shop in Kampala.
In addition, the school has to live with a contradiction. On the one hand, it is supposed to be a school for the weak/disadvantaged, i.e. for children from low-income lower classes and from households with almost no income. Consequently, the school fees must also be appropriately low to enable these strata to attend school in the first place. On the other hand, the aim is to provide the most comprehensive and at the same time good school education possible in a well-equipped environment.
The friends association in Germany tries to support the school as comprehensively as possible.
