What are the next necessary development steps on the way to “excellence” school, as Director Saad Luyinda keeps telling us?
The next step he sees very clearly is the urgent need to improve the living conditions of the teaching staff. The first and most important goal he has set is to improve accommodation for teachers. It is clear that good teachers can only be recruited and retained in the long term if the living conditions are right for them. The fact is that there is no village infrastructure in Bulabakulu, such as houses, streets, stores, etc. The teachers also live on the school grounds. The teachers also live on the school grounds – so far in very modest huts, with the cooking area outside the hut.
We are now focusing all our efforts on improving the living conditions of the staff. S. Luyinda has sent us designs for small, simple teachers’ houses. We found the designs very appropriate and a complete success. Take a look at the plans for yourself.
An initial sum of 2500 euros, the cost of one of the teachers’ houses shown, has already been transferred to Bulabakulu. A first example house is currently being built. Director Luyinda will keep us up to date on the progress of construction.
We are already preparing for the Christmas markets in Ulm and Engen to finance the remaining houses (8 in total). We are producing, crafting and planning to be present at these markets with our products. We will keep you up to date!
The construction progress of the first house is really rapid!
Now the next steps for the roofing of the house follow.
